Senior Jewelry Designer

Location: LA/SF/NY

The Role

Soko is seeking a Senior Jewelry Designer to design a competitive product line that supports the brands’ strategic and financial goals. Qualified candidates are entrepreneurial, motivated and self-started with a demonstrated passion for beautiful design. The ideal candidate will also succeed in a fast-paced environment, learn quickly, and thrive within a global team. Organization, attention to details and communicating with individuals across a diverse range of disciplines are a must for this role.

Responsibilities

  • Work closely with CCO, design, and merchandising teams to develop and execute product designs
  • Support research and development of seasonal trends and colors.
  • Sketch and spec proposed product to be used for production.
  • Interpret design/style trends into brand appropriate product that fits within pricing strategy and production’s (artisan network) skill capacity.
  • Bring a high level of creativity, attention to detail and efficiency while working under tight deadlines and on multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Work closely across global team to create product.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of jewelry design experience working in or for established commercial brand.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Jewelry design, design, fine art or related degree preferred.
  • Proficiency in Adobe Suite and 3D/rhino skills
  • A strong portfolio demonstrating strong conceptual work with excellent execution of ideas.
  • Demonstrated ability to proactively problem solve.
  • Ability to take initiative and ownership of all work, within a fast paced environment.
  • Strong technical drawing abilities.
  • Strong construction and pricing knowledge mandatory.
  • Commitment to Soko’s mission and vision; passionate about ethical and sustainable fashion.

eCommerce Operations Fellow (20 hours per week)

Location: SF/LA

The Role

The eCommerce Operations Fellow will work alongside the eCommerce Manager and partner with key stakeholders to ensure that Soko is providing customers with an exceptional digital experience. He/she will learn more about the eCommerce landscape through Soko’s online consumers by supporting the eCommerce product catalog, providing timely resolutions to customer inquiries and clearly documenting and communicating customer feedback and overall experience. This fellow will work alongside the eCommerce team to make recommendations, develop and implement best practices to in order to achieve superior customer satisfaction and meet company service metrics.

Responsibilities

The Fellow will engage in eCommerce duties, including:

  • Clear and timely customer support responses using Customer Success Tools
  • Work in conjunction with other departments and U.S. fulfillment center to resolve customer disputes.
  • Effectively communicate issues, needs and opportunities with eCommerce Manager
  • Proactively identify, assess, track and mitigate issues and risks.
  • Develop and maintain systems for customer feedback
  • Submit requests for processes credits and exchanges
  • Data Entry
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • 1 year of relevant work experience
  • A helpful and friendly customer service focused attitude
  • Familiar with eCommerce Platforms (i.e. Shopify, Magento, etc.)
  • An ability to connect and engage with our valued eCommerce consumers
  • Excellent writing, editing, verbal & presentation skills

Graphic Designer

Location: SF/LA

The Role

Soko is looking for a Graphic Designer who will bring innovation and creativity to the team- an individual who understands our brand mission and the ever-evolving demands in the fashion space. Under the guidance of the key stakeholders, the Graphic Designer creates best in class designs that address strategic business objectives for ongoing brand marketing and digital strategies. We’re seeking a hands-on creative who is excited by taking risks, experimenting and composing brand appropriate designs.

Responsibilities

  • Execute print and digital visual marketing creative assets, including consumer and wholesale e-mails, look books, website and various wholesale and consumer-facing assets
  • Design marketing materials for Soko’s website including homepage and promotional banners, landing pages, and third party digital ads
  • Collaborate with varying departments to explore and create design visions and goals for all projects
  • Retouch, color correct, and color overlay digital images (models and product) in preparation for web application and/or print media
  • Build and maintain a library of photography, illustrations, fonts, Pantone swatches, research material, and design inspiration for the brand, i.e. brand asset libraries
  • Maintain brand DNA while evolving brand aesthetic across all visual channels
  • Work cross-functionally to ensure that all graphics/visual elements support a strong, focused point of view
  • Adhere to the demands of a production schedule and be aware of release schedules and all relevant deadlines
  • Effectively manage multiple projects with other members of the team
  • Provides leadership by generating excitement, enthusiasm, a positive mental attitude and commitment to Soko’s objectives
  • Keep up to date with the most relevant design and digital trends
  • Takes a collaborative team approach towards aiding each department in Soko’s initiatives

Requirements

  • +2 years experience in digital graphic design with a strong portfolio that shows a clear command of all aspects of visual design including typography, composition, color, use of photography, and asset management
  • Ability to work independently on multiple projects under a tight deadline
  • Great communication skills and a talent for collaboration
  • Understanding of responsive design best practices and implementation
  • Experience with eCommerce, digital marketing and digital publishing
  • Strong communication and project management skills
  • BA or MA in Graphic Design, Digital Media Design, Marketing, Fine Art Design or related discipline
  • Video editing capabilities not required, but would be a plus

Technical Experience

Advanced proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite in a MAC environment, including but not limited to the following programs:

  • Photoshop
  • Illustrator
  • InDesign
  • Acrobat Pro
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office

PHOTOGRAPHY/VIDEO INTERN

Are you a creative thinker who loves to tell stories through imagery and film? We’re looking for a style-savvy and self-starting photography and/or video intern to join our Marketing team at Soko this summer. Help us leverage our unique brand and story as we engage and grow our customer community while building our online brand presence, through beautiful and innovative visual content. Merge your interests in photography, fashion, and social good by joining the Soko team this summer!

Responsibilities Include:

  • Visual Content: Work with our Marketing Manager and other interns to plan and execute photoshoots for campaigns, developing visual content for social media, email newsletters, website, and online ads
  • Video Content: Create behind the scenes videos, product videos, or style guides. Come up with creative ways to use video to showcase our product and help define the role of video in our digital marketing
  • Social Media: Create visual content for Instagram and Pinterest, manage Snapchat; be at the forefront of new social media trends and networks for photo/video

Qualifications:

  • Basic DSLR camera knowledge
  • Photography or Film experience
  • Basic editing skills (photoshop or lightroom, mobile editing tools such as VSCO)
  • Interest in or basic experience in design (layouts, type)

Internships take place in our US offices in San Francisco, where you’ll help us inaugurate our brand new HQ and retail space! Interns are expected to work 20 hours per week and attend additional events as needed. Interns are paid a stipend, and if approved by your school, we’d love to help you receive college credit.

MARKETING AND BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT INTERN

We're looking for an entrepreneurial, style-savvy, motivated marketing intern to work directly with our Marketing and Sales teams across all areas of marketing, biz dev, ecommerce, and PR within the company. This is the perfect opportunity for a digitally-driven individual interested in gaining experience in strategy development and implementation at a social enterprise.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Social Media Management: Instagram, Facebook, Pinterest, Twitter, Snapchat
  • Retail Growth Strategy: identify target audiences and sales opportunities, research and outreach to potential retailers
  • Content Creation and Styling: work with other interns to ideate and create visual and written content for social media
  • PR: build our relationships with influencers and bloggers in the fashion community through research and creative outreach
  • Campaigns: work with Marketing Manager to plan, execute, and analyze marketing campaigns
  • Events: Organize and promote events in our brand new retail space

Qualifications:

  • Love for and deep understanding of social media for day-to-day management of Soko’s Facebook, Pinterest, Instagram and Twitter
  • Relevant experience in marketing, sales, retail, and/or outreach
  • Excellent writer with a keen interest in style, development, and who possesses a global mindset
  • Flexible, creative, forward-thinking, and responsible
  • Interest in or basic experience in design (layouts, type)

CONTENT AND PHOTOGRAPHY FELLOW

Join Soko in Kenya to document the livelihoods and creative processes of artisans working across Kenya in rural, slum and urban environments. We are looking for inspired, talented and curious individuals interested in economic and social development, technology and the arts to join us to help tell an important story about the creativity and resilience of artisans in the developing world. You must have professional photography experience and a portfolio that highlights your ability to capture people, context and fashion in a compelling way.
