POSITION: Client Support Analyst

LOCATION: SF

THE ROLE

The Client Support Analyst will work with the Sales Team through the entire sales process. You are a critical part to making sure Soko products reach the hands of our clients and customers. This role has the opportunity to gain mentorship from an experienced and entrepreneurial Sales Team, reporting directly to our VP of Sales and Brand Development. Additionally, you will have a high interaction with our team in both the US and Kenya. You’ll learn the inner workings of our ethical production model and take ownership of your projects and tasks.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Submit purchase orders for wholesale and bulk orders
  • Communicate all packaging instructions for orders (primarily bulk accounts) to Kenya Team
  • Process and manage all wholesale returns, exchanges, damages
  • Handle all additional forms and asset requirements by retailers (i.e. image asset folders, material composition forms)
  • Manage sample inventory (proactive sample ordering for all trade shows, buyer meetings, and special events, as well as sample packing and cleaning for all of the above) 
  • Manage shipping deadlines with Kenya team (proactive communication with Kenya team regarding upcoming shipping deadlines for important orders, especially for sample orders for bulk clients and buyer meetings)
  • Deliver customer service support to improve the customer experience
  • Plan and execute west coast retail events, including pop ups and trunk shows

You Have:

  • 1-2 years of relevant work experience
  • Excellent written/verbal communication skills
  • Strong problem solving skills

  • Ability to work in a fast paced, team environment
  • Ability to understand customer needs and meet that need with a successful product sale

POSITION: VP of Sales

LOCATION: SF, LA, NYC

THE ROLE

The VP of Sales will be responsible for providing leadership, innovation, and vision for all sales related functions. You’ll call on your experience in driving sales for a major brand/company to develop and manage a sales strategy to meet Soko’s sales objectives. You will be instrumental in driving revenue-generating growth, measured by revenue, sales growth, profit, cost of sale, and new market penetration. Your exceptional leadership will guide a team of account managers and sales admins, and you’ll successfully translate business requirements into team deliverables. Under your leadership, Soko’s sales team will become empowered brand ambassadors and a sales force that top sales people want to join to transform the fashion industry.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Develop, communicate, and execute sales strategies and objectives established to increase retail market share and maximize sales revenues while optimally increasing profit margin
  • Work with executive team to develop and launch strategic sales and marketing initiatives to improve competitive positioning and market expansion
  • Develop and implement sales goals, forecasts, and business strategies in accordance with marketing and sales plans to achieve sales goals
  • Successfully manage and maintain all department expenses within budget
  • Manage the sales teams, operations, and resources to deliver profitable growth
  • Define optimal sales force structure and hire/develop sales staff
  • Define and oversee sales staff compensation and incentive programs that motivate the sales team to achieve their sales targets
  • Define and coordinate sales training programs that enable staff to achieve their potential and support company sales objectives
  • Define sales processes that drive desired sales outcomes and identify improvements where and when required
  • Provide detailed and accurate sales forecasting
  • Manage customer expectations and contribute to a high level of customer satisfaction
  • Compile information and data related to customer and prospect interactions
  • Monitor customer, market, and competitor activity and provide feedback to executive team
  • Work closely with the marketing function to establish successful support, channel, and partner programs
  • Manage key customer relationships and participate in closing strategic opportunities
  • Partner with Planning and Finance to set sales goals and articulate business metrics; guide strategies and approve recommendations to maximize sales and minimize markdowns
  • Travel frequently to customers and partners to meet with senior leadership and ensure proper in-store execution; attend trade shows as necessary
  • Responsible for successful performance in Markets and Trunk shows
  • Stay on top of the competitive marketplace while driving proactive growth and ensuring protection of business segments' success
  • Represent the company at industry events through travel to Market events, shows, etc.

You Have:

  • Minimum of 10+ years of experience with a retail company working with major department store accounts
  • Strong leadership, business acumen and strategic ability to plan, lead, and drive change in the organization while meeting or exceeding business objectives
  • Experience in successfully directing a sales team including setting and achieving goals and forecasts
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel functions and formulas
  • A can do attitude and a willingness to roll up your sleeves to make things happen

PHOTOGRAPHY/VIDEO INTERN

Are you a creative thinker who loves to tell stories through imagery and film? We’re looking for a style-savvy and self-starting photography and/or video intern to join our Marketing team at Soko this summer. Help us leverage our unique brand and story as we engage and grow our customer community while building our online brand presence, through beautiful and innovative visual content. Merge your interests in photography, fashion, and social good by joining the Soko team this summer!

Responsibilities Include:

  • Visual Content: Work with our Marketing Manager and other interns to plan and execute photoshoots for campaigns, developing visual content for social media, email newsletters, website, and online ads
  • Video Content: Create behind the scenes videos, product videos, or style guides. Come up with creative ways to use video to showcase our product and help define the role of video in our digital marketing
  • Social Media: Create visual content for Instagram and Pinterest, manage Snapchat; be at the forefront of new social media trends and networks for photo/video

Qualifications:

  • Basic DSLR camera knowledge
  • Photography or Film experience
  • Basic editing skills (photoshop or lightroom, mobile editing tools such as VSCO)
  • Interest in or basic experience in design (layouts, type)

Internships take place in our US offices in San Francisco, where you’ll help us inaugurate our brand new HQ and retail space! Interns are expected to work 20 hours per week and attend additional events as needed. Interns are paid a stipend, and if approved by your school, we’d love to help you receive college credit.

MARKETING AND BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT INTERN

We're looking for an entrepreneurial, style-savvy, motivated marketing intern to work directly with our Marketing and Sales teams across all areas of marketing, biz dev, ecommerce, and PR within the company. This is the perfect opportunity for a digitally-driven individual interested in gaining experience in strategy development and implementation at a social enterprise.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Social Media Management: Instagram, Facebook, Pinterest, Twitter, Snapchat
  • Retail Growth Strategy: identify target audiences and sales opportunities, research and outreach to potential retailers
  • Content Creation and Styling: work with other interns to ideate and create visual and written content for social media
  • PR: build our relationships with influencers and bloggers in the fashion community through research and creative outreach
  • Campaigns: work with Marketing Manager to plan, execute, and analyze marketing campaigns
  • Events: Organize and promote events in our brand new retail space

Qualifications:

  • Love for and deep understanding of social media for day-to-day management of Soko’s Facebook, Pinterest, Instagram and Twitter
  • Relevant experience in marketing, sales, retail, and/or outreach
  • Excellent writer with a keen interest in style, development, and who possesses a global mindset
  • Flexible, creative, forward-thinking, and responsible
  • Interest in or basic experience in design (layouts, type)

CONTENT AND PHOTOGRAPHY FELLOW

Join Soko in Kenya to document the livelihoods and creative processes of artisans working across Kenya in rural, slum and urban environments. We are looking for inspired, talented and curious individuals interested in economic and social development, technology and the arts to join us to help tell an important story about the creativity and resilience of artisans in the developing world. You must have professional photography experience and a portfolio that highlights your ability to capture people, context and fashion in a compelling way.
