Technology creating waves of opportunity and change in Kenya

Posted on

Africa has not been left behind in the digital wave sweeping the world. Kenya is especially known as the Silicon Valley of East Africa and many techpreneurs in Kenya have taken advantage of this once in a lifetime opportunity. What’s even better is that these techpreneurs seek to solve pertinent societal issues and to uplift their world through technology.

Soko is proud to be amongst these start-ups for social good and, as a firm created by women for women, Soko is a perfect fit to be sponsoring the upcoming Women in Africa (WIA) Forum on 28th and 29th November 2013, in Nairobi. The WIA Conference is an annual event which provides a forum where women discuss matters business and entrepreneurship, plus also get a chance to network and enjoy being an African lady.

Festival for African Fashion and Arts (FAFA) designers will also be in the house to entertain with amazing collections of stunning African designs. Soko will be part of this fashion exclusive, with its authentically African designs and beautifully crafted jewelry. To us, a Soko Woman is confident, independent, liberated, intelligent and, of course, fashionable and we know that the women in attendance at the WIA will definitely be #SokoWomen.

The line-up of attendees is impressive, including Kenya’s First Lady, Margaret Kenyatta, as a special guest. Some of the amazing speakers will include:

  1. Caroline Mutoko, Program Controller & Group Head, Marketing for Radio Africa
  2. Julie Gichuru, News Journalist – Royal Media Services, Group Digital Business Manager
  3. Susan Mboya Kidero, CEO, Coca Cola Africa Foundation
